21 lakh students got benefit from Umang program, program is going on in collaboration with School Education Department and National Health Mission

About 21 lakh students studying in schools of Madhya Pradesh have benefited from the Umang program. It is noteworthy that Umang Programs in the state are jointly operating the School Education Department and the National Health Mission. Umang program is being conducted with the aim of developing the life skills of adolescents and adolescents studying in government high and higher secondary schools.

Umang program is going on in 9 thousand 306 government high and higher secondary schools of the state. This program is to make adolescent-prose and sensitive to evils like social practice child marriage, gender inequality, dowry. The program has to make schools with information on health services such as iron folic tablets, sanitary pads, health checkups, clean and safe management techniques.

For better implementation of the Umang program, 52 state level, 427 district level trainers and 2 teachers from each school at the district level have been trained. In the program, separate enthusiasm modules have also been constructed for students from class-9 to 12th. The module consists of serious issues such as sexual harassment, early marriage, domestic violence along with cyber safety.

Under the bright module of the Umang program, posters have been created in collaboration with UNFPA with the aim of developing respect for girls and women among students. These posters are proving to be very helpful in creating a sense of respect for women. A training module based on gender sensitization has also been prepared to include these issues in the syllabus.
