Discussion in UP: Demand to change the name of Shahjahanpur, Uma Bharti appeals to CM Yogi

Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Uma Bharti has demanded to change the name of Shahjahanpur district. At an event held in Uttar Pradesh, the BJP’s Senior Leader said that this name is a symbol of slavery.

Uma Bharti, who reached Amla (Bareilly) to unveil the statue of freedom fighter Rani Avantibai Lodhi, said, “I was coming here and saw a district named Shahjahanpur. This name does not seem right. I urge Yogi ji (Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath) to propose a new name.” She also said that she does not want to listen to this name again.

Former Union Minister Bharti also referred to the Ram temple movement and said that the Babri structure was a ‘issue of national insult’ and its demolition and then the construction of the temple restored the national pride.

He appreciated former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Kalyan Singh and described him as a ‘lion’ protecting Ram devotees. Regarding temple sites in Mathura and Varanasi, he said, “We have been asked to give evidence of the birthplace of our gods, while the Vatican City is a major religious place of Christians around the world,” and said that Hindu will follow the orders of the court.

During the program, several leaders including Bharti praised the Lodhi community for their contribution to the development of BJP.

Union Minister BL Verma also paid tribute to Rani Avantibai and accused the historians of doing injustice to her.

He announced that one of the new PAC women battalions in Uttar Pradesh will be named after him. Uttar Pradesh cabinet minister Dharampal Singh and MP Sakshi Maharaj and other speakers also took the stage.

Dharampal Singh taunted Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav’s ‘PDA’ (Backward, Dalit, Minorities) alliance, calling it “Family Development Authority” and accused the SP of giving protection to criminals.
