Political Dispute Escalates
The political friction between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana intensified when Telangana’s Cinematography Minister, Komatireddy Venkatareddy, issued a stern warning regarding the release of Pawan Kalyan’s films in the state. He stated that these films would not be allowed to premiere until Kalyan publicly apologizes for his recent remarks about Konaseema. Venkatareddy emphasized that he was speaking in his capacity as the Cinematography Minister and deemed the comments made by Andhra Pradesh’s Deputy Chief Minister as unacceptable. He pointed out that while Pawan Kalyan may be new to politics, targeting Telangana over a decade after its formation was unnecessary.
He further asserted that although Chiranjeevi has never made inflammatory statements, Pawan Kalyan’s films would face a ban in Telangana unless he issues an apology. If Kalyan does apologise, his films might at least have a chance to run for a few days in the Nizam region. This controversy began during Pawan Kalyan’s visit to Konaseema, where the Deputy Chief Minister claimed that the coconut plantations in the area were suffering damage.
The people of Telangana have expressed their concerns regarding the negative impact on Konaseema, suggesting that the prosperity of the Godavari districts was one of the reasons for the state’s bifurcation. This comment arose during a visit to affected plantations, which have been impacted by seawater intrusion due to cracks in drainage channels. Experts have attributed the crop losses to environmental and infrastructural issues rather than superstition.
