Sambhal
A civil court of Chandausi on Tuesday adjourned the hearing of the dispute over the royal Jama Masjid-Harihar temple due to the local Bar Association strike till 21 August. The case was listed for hearing before Civil Judge (Senior Division) Aditya Singh. The Muslim side had earlier challenged in the Allahabad High Court whether the case was hearing or not, but on May 19, the High Court upheld the order of the lower court in which the survey was allowed under the supervision of the court and directed the lower court to continue the hearing. Advocate Gopal Sharma, who appeared on behalf of the Hindu side, said that today due to the strike of the Bar Association, the court has fixed the next date of hearing 21 August.
Hearing postponed due to rain and lawyers strike
Muslim side lawyer Shakeel Ahmed Warsi told a news agency that the Bar Association is on strike due to rain, due to which the next date has been given. The dispute began on November 19 last year, when Hindu petitioners, including advocates Hari Shankar Jain and Vishnu Shankar Jain, filed a case in the Sambhal district court, claiming that the mosque was constructed above the temple already existing.
4 died in violence erupted after the survey
It is being told that a survey was conducted on the same day (November 19) on the court’s order, followed by another survey on 24 November. The second survey caused a lot of unrest in Sambhal, resulting in 4 people killed and 29 policemen were injured. In connection with the violence, the police have registered an FIR against Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Ziaurrahman Burke and Masjid Committee chief Zafar Ali. Along with this, an FIR has also been registered against 2,750 unknown people.
