Srinagar Police Intensifies Efforts Against Terrorism with Inspections

Srinagar Police Conducts Inspections Amid Terror Concerns

The police in Srinagar announced that they executed inspections at various mosques and madrasas on Thursday, targeting individuals and networks linked to terrorist organizations.

This surge in inspections follows the tragic blast near the Red Fort metro station in Delhi on November 10, which resulted in the deaths of 13 individuals.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the explosion has been identified as Umar Nabi, a resident of Kashmir.

In the aftermath of the explosion, the Union government labeled the incident as a terrorist act.

Just hours before the blast, authorities reported the dismantling of an inter-state and transnational terror module operating in Faridabad and Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh.

The recent discovery of this alleged terror module has led to increased security measures across the Valley.

On November 12, police conducted raids at over 300 locations in the Kashmir Valley, targeting individuals associated with the banned Jamaat-e-Islami. This action was prompted by intelligence suggesting that members of the Jamaat-e-Islami, which is prohibited under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, were attempting to revive the organization under new identities.

During Thursday’s operations, Srinagar Police reported that search teams, accompanied by executive magistrates and independent witnesses, examined various sites to gather evidence related to activities deemed harmful to national security.

Officers scrutinized digital devices, documents, and other materials during these searches.

The inspections are part of a broader initiative to dismantle the support systems for terrorism within the city and to thwart any plots that could disrupt public peace and order, according to police statements.

Authorities emphasized that these operations were conducted in accordance with legal protocols to ensure transparency and accountability throughout the process.

Police indicated that similar actions would persist wherever credible information suggests the presence of individuals or materials associated with terrorism or radical activities.
